The Ozark Affiliate

The Komen Ozark Race For The Cure® is a celebration and a demonstration of hope, courage and support in the fight against breast cancer. Northwest Arkansas is one of over 100 Race For The Cure® sites. This year, 15,337 men, women, and children participated in the Komen Ozark Race For The Cure®. Seventy-Five percent of proceeds from the Race will be used to fund local breast cancer projects and twenty-five percent will directly fund national research through the Susan G. Komen Foundation Grant Program.

The sister of Susan Komen, Nancy Brinker, established the Komen Foundation in 1982 to find a cure for breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by advancing research, education, screening and treatment. This organization has been working with local affiliates and the Komen Race for the Cure to raise awareness of breast cancer and to raise funds to help victims and conduct research.
