Why I serve on the Board for the Ozark Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure

I am often asked “why I serve on the Board for the Ozark Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure”.
 
With four daughters, one granddaughter and another granddaughter on the way, I empathize with all the mothers and grandmothers who face the challenges and heartbreaks of breast cancer.  
 
I have spent many years attempting to balance a career with Walmart and a large family.  Now that my children are all grown or still in college, I have more time to join in the efforts of so many people who work tirelessly to put an end to this debilitating disease.   While my contribution may be small, my time and support for the cure allows me to escape from my busy life and focus on the mission of saving lives and ending breast cancer forever, so others may enjoy the blessing I have received of such a happy and healthy family. 
 
I am excited this year to be part of the 2012 Race for the Cure.  It is an honor to be a part of our Ozark Affiliate and to work with those who have given so much to this great cause.  Although the survival rate continues to improve there is still tremendous work to be done.

It is time to start forming your teams and sign up for the 14th Annual Race for the Cure!  This years race will be held on Saturday April 28th at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade mall.  More information will be posted on our website in the weeks to follow.
