“Mercy Breast Center: Empowerment Through Education” seeks to empower women through knowledge by providing general breast health and breast cancer education.  This grant will support two primary projects:  Navigation Kits: A kit of educational materials and accessory items compiled to inform and assist each newly diagnosed or recurrent breast cancer patient with their breast cancer journey.  Patient education:  Provide educational materials in English and Spanish to the community served by Mercy.  The effectiveness of both of these projects will be evaluated on a continual basis from patient and physician feedback.
At Mercy Breast Center we believe an informed patient is an empowered patient.  Through this grant we are addressing one of Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s primary funding priorities; education.  We strive to teach the community that breast cancer is a highly treatable condition and that early detection is key in the fight against breast cancer!
