Who can apply for Komen funding?

US nonprofit organizations
Educational institutions
Government agencies

What restrictions are there?

All applicants must reside within the Ozark Affiliate service area which includes the following counties: Benton, Carroll, Crawford, Madison, Sebastian, Washington

Organizations applying for funding must follow the Statement of Need that is listed in the RFP and write their program accordingly.

All projects must be specific to breast health and/or breast cancer

How are grant recipients selected?

A volunteer Review Panel, which includes local businessmen and women, physicians, survivors, etc., reviews each of these applications in accordance to the Ozark Affiliate's Statement of Need and RFP guidelines. They will then select those grants that follow the mission of the Komen Foundation and that demonstrate the greatest need.

Can salaries be asked for in the grant request?

Yes. The Ozark Affiliate feels that for a breast health program to run effectively it is appropriate to pay for the portions of salaries that are related to the program. Salaries may be funded at 100% for one staff person or partial salaries for several people contributing to the program.

Can equipment costs exceed 30% of the grant?

No, equipment costs may not exceed more than the 30% allotment and must be specifically used for the breast health project.

What do I have to provide to prove my non-profit status?

A copy of your 501(c)3 status must be submitted with your application. If you have applied for a 501(c)3 but have not received notification yet, the Ozark Affiliate could accept the application but could not award funding if the status is not received by the grant award date.

Can grant recipients use Komen funds to provide services to undocumented citizens?

Yes. The Komen Foundation does not require proof of citizenship in order to participate in a Komen funded program.

Does Komen pay for indirect costs?

Yes. The Ozark Affiliate will pay for the cost of salaries, office rent, utilities, etc.
